Wheely hard choices

Wheely hard choices

The concept for the Montreal was originally designed by Gandini with a deep dish style wheel as seen in a sketch below. Montreal_wheel_options_ (0) (Custom)

This was refined to a Lamborghini Miura-like (also Gandini designed) wheel that was cast for the two show cars. These wheels are busy but also match beautifully with the Montreal’s design I believe. Possibly due to cost, these were designed out of the production version which instead got a 14″ x 6.5″ wheel commonly called the Turbina. It is not the most exciting wheel out there and seems too tame for the Montreal.

If you do want to go with the Turbina wheels and don’t have a set or even if you do and are having trouble finding tyres for 14″ wheels then Group 4 Wheels have made a great 15″x7″ reproduction wheel that look great.      Group 4 Wheels – Turbina

My quest is to find a wheel that I like the look of without diluting the look of the car. Its a hard ask. I am leaning towards the 5 star 3 piece type as shown in the pic of Philip Herir’s car smoking up the rear tyres!

A friend has some lovely Simmons wheels that also have the right balance of aggressive and style as well. See pic of RHD orange Montreal with the black bonnet stripe.

I do also love the RB Milano wheels which are closest to the prototype wheels. These can be found in 14×6″ but a few rare 14 x 6.5″ wheels have been uncovered recently. See this thread on the AlfaBB I can only dream.
