Aussie Arancio – The Beginning

Aussie Arancio – The Beginning

Introducing my Montreal project. She is a LHD German delivered car in Arancio 601. 70’s orange baby! Here is the build info according to Marco at the Alfa Archives. See here for how to apply for information on your car:

According to our documentation files, the chassis number AR 1428023 originally corresponds to an Alfa Romeo Montreal (105.64), manufactured on the 31st December 1972 and sold on the 24th May 1973 to Alfa Romeo Germany, Frankfurt.

The body colour is orange, with black interiors.

The car was imported to Australia a few years ago by a Montreal addict in Sydney. It was running strongly except for the notorious water pump leak. He decided to begin the restoration project as like many cars it had rust lurking in many places. The process stalled as he looked to cut his Montreal fleet numbers and the car was sold. This happened once more until I chanced across it. By the time it came into my possession it was missing some key parts of which I am half way to re-collecting.

My plan is to restore this car to be a nice driver that I can enjoy. All bodywork, mechanical and interior elements will be addressed. First stop is bodywork. Floors and some lower panelwork are to be replaced along with major metal work on the doors.
